PT School Pre-Requisites

The pre-requisite courses for all schools are generally the same but some schools may require extra courses such as medical terminology, etc. Refer to the PTCAS directory which allows you to compare school requirements:​

Observation Hours

​Different programs will have different observation hour requirements usually around 100-150 hours. It is best that you do hours in at least 2+ settings to diversify your hours. PT schools value variety over having thousands of hours in just one setting and diversifying your hours also allows you to see what you like or don't like. Paid PT aide jobs also count for observation hours.

GRE 

Not all schools require the GRE but most California schools still do and there is usually a minimum score you must get to be considered. Refer to specific program websites to see their GRE score requirements

Recommended GRE Prep: 

• Official GRE Super Powerpack, Second Edition (can buy on Amazon)

• GreGMAT https://www.gregmat.com/ (recommend the gregmat+ subscription which is $9.99/month and comes with prepswift which is very helpful for quant because the content is broken down into short 3-9 minute videos and covers more strategies.)

  • Other GRE prep is often very expensive and uses third-party material​

• Essay Practice: Recommend purchasing the essay grader on the ETS website that gives you prompts and grades your essays
